Do you ever think about your ears? I mean, besides being an earring showcase or for eye-glasses support?
We all have them … some work great and some are a little ‘hard of hearing’ but if you hear at all it’s a gift that we simply take for granted. I was reminded of that when I saw a video of a 39-year-old woman who was deaf from birth hearing her first sounds. She laughed. She cried. She was in awe. She laughed and cried some more, joy and amazement overflowing as she experienced sound for the first time. I shed my own tears as I watched.
What a simple pleasure. Hearing.
It’s impossible for those of us who have always heard sounds to imagine a world of total silence. I guess it didn’t dawn on me just what it would be like to hear for the first time.
Or see.
Or walk.
Or talk.
Or sing.
Oh! the things we take for granted! I am asking God to help me truly appreciate every sound, every sight, every step I take, every melody, and every spoken word.
Watch the video … it will touch your heart.
